THE OPEN CALL RUNS UNTIL May 31 2023!
ORTSTERMIN 23 invites artists and cultural professionals to contribute to the art festival taking place from 01. Sept to 03. Sept 2023. This year, the aim is to turn Moabit and the Hansaviertel into a place of hospitality for a weekend
Hospitality is multifaceted - it encompasses all aspects of interpersonal life and is the basis of our social interaction. It means openness towards guests, their attitudes, their actions and their thinking. The flip side of hospitality is exclusion - "You are a guest here!" can also be a threat. Being a guest then becomes a tight corset, a catalogue of behaviour that dictates what one is allowed to do and what one is not allowed to do.
Ortstermin 23 becomes an experimental site for hosts and guests to test, break and re-establish rules of gathering, to discover new places and ideas and to create new friendships. Over the weekend, Moabit and Hansaviertel emerge as a district of encounters, of being received and of sharing.
Where are we and who lives and works here? What characterizes Moabit as a district and what is special about the individual exhibition venues? From studios to pubs, a variety of places will open their doors to these questions.
Join us! Kunstverein Tiergarten calls on all interested artists to get involved by hosting an exhibition. Become a part of this event with your atelier, your gallery, or your project (space). You have a room, a bar or a shop window and would like to open it up for an artist or project? Please apply! With the project "Mon habite", we also invite all Moabiters to show their own personal Moabit. Whether it's a private collection or a neighbourhood garden - become a host at Ortstermin!
I would like to join with an exhibition, my studio, my event or for the project “Mon habite”:
I would like to make a space available:
Please send the filled out registration form by May 31 2023 as a PDF to ortstermin@kunstverein-tiergarten.de, by post or in person to Kunstverein Tiergarten, Turmstraße 75, 10551 Berlin. Please direct any questions regarding registration to ortstermin@kunstverein-tiergarten.de.
The Open Call is aimed at all artists and cultural workers and their guests in Moabit and the Hansaviertel, as well as people who want to make their spaces in Moabit and the Hansaviertel available for exhibitions and events.
Of course, people from all over Berlin or beyond can also participate if they realize their project at a location in Moabit. However, the focus of ORTSTERMIN is to provide an insight into Moabit's art and cultural scene. Therefore, we cannot consider registrations from venues outside Moabit and the Hansaviertel.
As part of the project "Mon habite", people who do not consider themselves artists are also invited to present their Moabit. Whether you want to present your comic collection, your flower garden or a creative hobby - we look forward to your proposal!
Download the appropriate registration form and send it completely filled out as a PDF to ortstermin@kunstverin-tiergarten.de or by post to:
Kunstverein Tiergarten
Turmstraße 75
10551 Berlin
Alternatively, you can pick up the registration form during regular opening hours at Galerie Nord and return it to us filled out completely.
You can sign up to and including the May 31 2023.
Fill out the registration form as detailed as possible and state that you have not yet found a suitable location. We will try to match projects with suitable spaces. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide a suitable venue. Please consider this in your planning and continue to try to find a fitting space on your own.
That's great! Please fill out the registration form for rooms and indicate exactly which projects are possible. How much space is available? Is there electricity/water/toilets? What are the opening hours? The more details we know, the better we can match you with a suitable project.
Permits must be obtained for events in public spaces. As we would like to realise all projects within the framework of the Ortstermin if possible and are happy to support you in the application process. In addition to the application form for your projects, please send us the following information as soon as possible:
- exact details of the type and duration of the "disturbance" you are planning
- a sketch of the area of the public space where the event is planned.
The sooner, the better!
With the project "Mon habite" we want to give all Moabiters the opportunity to participate in ORTSTERMIN and become hosts. Do you have a special collection, a special hobby or a great club that you would like to present? Then you can do so within the framework of "Mon habite"! We are open to your ideas!
ORTSTERMIN is an non-commercial festival and is financed by public funding. Unfortunately we cannot offer financial or material support for projects. Possible contact points for funding can be the Moabit Ost and Beusselstraße neighbourhood management or the funding finder of Kreativ Kultur Berlin sein.
